  • 192nd Fighter Wing recognizes mission diversity with redesignation ceremony

    The Virginia National Guard’s 192nd Fighter Wing was redesignates as the 192nd Wing at a ceremony held Oct. 13, 2018, at Joint Base Langley Eustis, Virginia. With 12 distinct mission sets including F-22 fighter jet operations and maintenance, intelligence and cyber operations along with multiple support units, the redesignation reflects the wing’s growth and diversity.
  • VaANG Airmen protect aircraft, citizens under hurricane threat

    Virginia Air National Guard Airmen evacuated U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptors and T-38 Talons ahead of hurricane Florence from Joint Base Langley-Eustis and set up shelters in the local community, Sept. 11, 2018. The forecast for hurricane Florence had a potential impact on the area of Hampton Roads. The 1st and 192nd Fighter Wings made the call to evacuate the jets to Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, Ohio, after Gov. Ralph Northam issued the order to evacuate some areas of Coastal Virginia Sept. 10.

    A hurricane threatens to hit Virginia and Virginia National Guard Soldiers and Airmen respond. Mission command centers are set up and task forces are assigned in various regions throughout the commonwealth before the storm makes landfall.
  • Guard Soldiers and Airmen gearing up for Hurricane Florence

    The governors of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Maryland declared states of emergency Monday as Hurricane Florence approaches the East Coast. Additionally, the mayor of Washington, D.C., declared a state of emergency due to anticipated torrential rainfall. The storm is forecast to make landfall along the Atlantic coast early Friday as a major hurricane.
  • Virginia Air National Guard Airman wins reserve component level award

    An Airman from the 192nd Fighter Wing, Virginia Air National Guard, is awarded the 2017 Aircrew Flight Equipment Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year, reserve component. Tech. Sgt. Deandra Boone, 192nd AFE Flight technician, was presented the award on March 25, 2018.
  • Airman’s design selected for 192nd Fighter Wing commander's coin

    The 192nd Fighter Wing Communications Flight superintendent created the winning design for the wing commander’s coin. A call for designs was put out to members of the Virginia Air National Guard after Col. Frank J. Lobash, 192nd FW commander, took command of the wing in November of last year. Out of approximately 14 submissions, Lobash chose the one created by Master Sgt. Perez-Santana, 192nd CF superintendent. For his work in designing the coin, Lobash presented Perez-Santana with the first coin during a commander’s call on July 14, 2018, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.
  • Ceremony welcomes new 192nd Medical Group Detachment 1 commander

    A new commander assumes command of the 192nd Medical Group, Detachment 1, during an assumption of command ceremony August 5, 2018, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis. Col. Jason Price, 192nd MDG commander, marked the ceremonial transfer of responsibility by passing the MDG guidon to Lt. Col. Cheryl Stacklin, the incoming detachment commander.

  • Virginia Air National Guard pilot wins Instructor Pilot of the Year award

    The U.S. Air Force announced the recipients of the 2017 Air Force Fighter Annual Awards in May 2018 at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.. Of the five recipients, Maj. “Mongo” Dietrich, 149th Fighter Squadron chief of weapons, was named the Air Force’s Fighter Instructor Pilot of the Year. Dietrich is the first F-22 Raptor pilot to receive this award. He is an instructor pilot in the 149th FS based out of Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. The squadron consists of about 50 members with about half being pilots.
